Military Moms and Dads have many important jobs, but to their children they are simply heroes.

Narrated in a child’s voice these two partner books depict the diversity of jobs in the United States military service. When a parent must leave home to serve his or her country, it often is difficult for service members and their families to cope with being separated. Both books show in simple verse why the children believe his or her military parent is a hero. Some serve as pilots, mechanics, divers, paratroopers, chaplains, doctors, or air traffic controllers and in many other jobs. When their parents come home and the families are reunited once more, the children are proud to know that their Moms or Dads work hard to keep our country safe.

Otter’s rhyming text shares with readers how important our military men and women are to the safety of our country. Tolson’s simple illustrations bring the verses to life with her bold use of color. Highly recommended for any school or library, especially for the children of military personnel.
