Fox’s Box by Emilia Zebrowska

Fox’s Box

by Emilia Zebrowska

Fox finds a box and is curious as to what could be inside.

Going from one friend to the next, Fox asks each what they think might be inside. One by one they look at the outside of the box and make comments, some helpful, but most are not. Pig is nervous so to him it looks very big. Giraffe responds with a rude laugh, but Bunny hopes it’s a treat. Animal after animal tries to guess, though in the end they all are treated to delightful surprise.

For preschoolers, Zebrowska’s charming but simple text serves to introduce young children to color words and words about emotions. Her illustrations are also simple, but preschoolers will be delighted by their bright colors and the story’s fun romp through a group of animal friends. It would be a real treat for any preschool, day care center, or home library.
