Steve, Terror of the Seas by Megan Brewis

Steve, Terror of the Seas By Megan Brewis

Steve, the fish, is not very big and his teeth are only average size, so why do many other sea creatures fear him?

Wherever Steve wanders in his great ocean home, other fish take one look and dart away. And not only other fish, but turtles, jelly fish, octopus, and humans, too. Whether large or small, one look at Steve as he passes and everyone swims away, fearing for their lives. Besides having his feelings hurt, Steve is very confused. His teeth are of average size, he isn’t very big so why are others afraid of him? Besides, the ocean is full of really dangerous fish. Steve is not poisonous like a puffer fish or equipped with fangs like the Viperfish, but still every sea creature takes one look at Steve, turns tail, and darts away? Though he is lonely, Steve has one best friend, George, who doesn’t think Steve is scary at all.

Brewis’s endearing story will appeal to most young readers. Her illustrations are playful and lively. Highly recommended for inclusion in any home, school, or public library.
