Swashbarklers of the Sea

By Cynthia Kremsner

Ahoy, mateys! It seems everyone has heard of the notorious seadog, Barkbeard, though no seafarer has seen him yet. However, the Swashbarklers are not afraid to follow his map and try.

Bound for the tempestuous seas near the Cape of the Horn, the Swashbarklers seadogs plus their mates, Monkey, Parrot, and some Mice, set sail to find the infamous Barkbeard.

In good time, the Swashbarklers spy a ship. They roll out the cannons and prepare for a battle, but when a great wave crests and the ship comes into closer view, the Swashbarklers are in for the surprise of their lives and also learn about the true treasure of life.

Kremsner is a respected illustrator who specializes in vibrantly colored and lively illustrations. In this, her debut book as author/illustrator, she proves to be an accomplished writer as well. The rhyming text and its imbedded sense of humor is sure to appeal to young readers everywhere. Highly recommended for any elementary school or public or home library.
